BRAZIL PAVILION .2021

Utopias of common life is the title of the Brazil Pavilion 2021. The collaborative studio Arquitetos Associados and the visual designer Henrique Penha curated the exhibition. There’s a urgent need of rethinking forms of coexistence between humans and the planet. It’s amplified by the collective experience of the pandemic. The proposal gains new meanings in the current context: “It seems that the urgent need of rethinking forms of coexistence between humans and the planet in viable and socially inclusive ecological terms is amplified by the collective experience imposed by the pandemic, thus reinforcing the relevance of the themes the exhibition seeks to discuss,” the curators add.

This was my fourth collaboration with the Bienal Sao Paulo and it was always a huge pleasure.

Exhibit
Utopias of common life it's the title of Brazil's official participation in the 17th Bienalle Architettura 2021. The exhibition at the Brazilian Pavilion 2021 in the Giardini begins by mapping utopias that exist on Brazilian soil. From the Guarani world vision of a Land Without Evil to contemporary times, highlighting a few singular moments among them. Then a smaller room, Futures of the Past, dedicated to two iconic designs of modern architecture and to the utopias that guided them. And the large room, Futures of the Present. With two videos especially commissioned for the Biennale Architettura 2021 reflecting utopically on the occupation of the contemporary metropolises.
